MODATEX – Professional Training Centre for the Textile, Clothing, Apparel and Wool Industry – was set up in 2011, based on an agreement between the Employment and Professional Training Institute (IEFP, I.P.), the Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal (ATP), the National Association of Clothing Manufacturers (ANIVEC/APIV) and the National Association of Wool Industries (ANIL).

This national Centre, with headquarters in Porto, branches in Lisbon and Covilhã, centres in Vila das Aves and Barcelos and offices in Pinhel, Lousada and Marco de Canaveses, aims to contribute to better strategic and operational coordination of training in the sector, to respond more effectively to qualification needs and towards improving and re-training people and organisations, as well as to provide close, technical support to all the players in the Textile and Clothing Industry.

The partnership between Modatex and Portugal Fashion began in October 2011 and, since then, several finalists from the Centre have had the opportunity to experience the entire process involved in presenting a collection at a fashion show: from designing the clothes to producing them and including all the associated logistics. The final result always culminates in a fashion show at Portugal Fashion’s Bloom.
