The next edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo, which will be held from 9 to 13 January 2017, in Florence, will receive the Portuguese young designers Estelita Mendonça and David Catalán. The invitation to their participation was issued by the actual organisation of the highly reputed Italian fashion fair, which thus included the two national designers in the leading platform "The latest fashion buzz”. This space is specifically dedicated to promoting emerging international talent in the male fashion segment.

The buzz generated by the creative work of Estelita Mendonça and David Catalán has surpassed frontiers and captivated the organisation of the prestigious event of Pitti Immagine Uomo. This interest was embodied in an invitation addressed to the two Portuguese young designers to participate in the following edition of the event, which will be held during the first fortnight of next year.

The collections of the young designers will be displayed in a showroom environment in "The Latest Fashion Buzz” section, which has the organisational support and collaboration of L’Uomo Vogue and GQ Italy. The main goal of the platform is to project new promising talent of international fashion, but specifically placed in the European panorama, in male ready-to-wear and accessories.

These young talented Portuguese have thus achieved yet another opportunity to show their brands in a market abroad that is considered vibrant for fashion designers. Under the name "Bold Meets Genderless”, and with the sponsorship of the MINI motor vehicle brand, one of the participants of "The Latest Fashion Buzz” will also be given an additional opportunity: the offer of one year of mentoring services, provided by the scouting agency CREATIVE AND MORE, based in Milan.

It should be recalled that Estelita Mendonça made her debut on the Bloom platform of Portugal Fashion in October 2010 and, since then, has consolidated her name in national fashion. In March 2014, she leapt to the main catwalk of Portugal Fashion and, throughout this period has participated in international fashion shows in Madrid and Vienna, and in reference international fairs for the sector, sometimes with the support of the national fashion project and on other occasions with the additional support of ANJE, through supplementary programs. In 2016, she added two incursions to the London Fashion Week, a participation in Paris Fashion Week Menswear (both in showroom format) and was distinguished with an honourable mention at the International Fashion Showcase (exhibition organised by the British Fashion Council and included in the programming of London Fashion Week).  Also noteworthy in her career is the distinction in the New Awards 2015, in the Fashion category, attributed by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

David Catalán was one of the finalists of the most recent Bloom Competition of Portugal Fashion, which assured his individual debut in the space consigned to young designers in the last edition of the event. Indeed, this presentation has been well received by the national and international critics, who consider him a promising talent. His curriculum also includes the first place of the Muestra Nacional de Jovenes Diseñadores and an award in the Mediterrâneo Fashion Prize.
